Hoosiers Set Record in Dominant Win Over Western Illinois

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—The Indiana Hoosiers (2-0) scored a school record 77 points in their Friday night victory over Western Illinois by a final score of 77-3.
Before Friday, the most points an Indiana Hoosier football team had scored in a game was 76 against Franklin back in 1901.
Kurtis Rourke threw touchdown passes and ran for another score in the first half. By halftime, Indiana was up 42-3.

The Hoosiers scored touchdowns on each of their first six possessions and held Western Illinois without a first down until late in the first half. They also had 13 plays of 10 yards or more.
Indiana Head Football Coach Curt Cignetti also became the fourth Indiana coach since 1948 to win his first two games at the school.
“I didn’t want them to play down to their standard and I thought we responded (to the message) really well,” said Cignetti.
