DELPHI, Ind. — Technology issues, constant objections and sidebars were just some of the notable moments from day thirteen of the Delphi murders trial. This was also the first full day of the defense’s case-in-chief.

Richard Allen is charged with four counts of murder for the 2017 killings of Delphi teenagers Abigail Williams and Liberty German.

Friday picked-up where Thursday left off: the prosecution and defense arguing over a video. The defense team representing Allen wanted to introduce videos of Allen inside his prison cell, presumably to illustrate the harsh conditions the defense says he endured while locked up at Westville. The prosecution, led by county prosecutor Nick McLeland, objected. The defense attempted to explain that the State had handed over the prison cell videos in a disorganized fashion, which is why the videos do not have timestamps to indicate what day or time the events contained within the video depict.

Special Judge Fran Gull denied the entry of that video, for now. The defense may try to verify the timestamps and reintroduce the video later.

Speaking of denials, Judge Gull also denied the defense’s second motion to enter evidence of Odinism and third-party suspects. Judge Gull also denied the defense’s request to have FBI Special Agent Adam Pohl to testify remotely. He’s currently working in Texas as an election crime coordinator.

Back to Friday’s testimony, the State continued to object to multiple statements made during the defense’s questioning of their witnesses. This led to several sidebars with Judge Gull. Reporters in the room noted Judge Gull appeared frustrated.

Testimony from defense witnesses focused on the idea that more than one person may be involved in the killings of Abby and Libby, witness’ recollection of who they saw in the area on February 13th, 2017, and what cars may have been parked nearby, and what areas were covered during initial searches for the girls.
