FISHERS, Ind. — When you think of Black Friday, you probably imagine discounts on things like electronics. But, one shelter will be offering deals on adoptions, to help you “fill your heart, not your cart.”
The Humane Society for Hamilton County will host an event from noon to 5 p.m. this Friday. Here, you can adopt eligible pets for just $10, and the shelter will also offer some meds and pet insurance discounts.
Plus, the HSHC says there are six animals in need of adoption – known as the “At-Risk Six” – who may soon “decline past the point of saving,” as they have been in the shelter for months.

These animals will be free to adopt. HSHC’s Lily Darling says one – senior dog Marley – was surrendered when his family lost its home, and he has been struggling to adjust to shelter life.
Darling notes that, while the HSHC does everything it can to care for its animals, it is not a forever home. Shelter life can be physically and emotionally draining, so community involvement is key.
At this time, more than 400 animals are currently housed at the HSHC. While most will be “eligible,” young kittens and puppies – as well as special breeds – will not be part of the promotion.
If you are planning to adopt, you are asked to complete the application found here and bring your ID, family members/other pets, and rental policy, if applicable.
