INDIANAPOLIS — This year’s Circle of Lights will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday on Monument Circle, and you are encouraged to join “tens of thousands” of Hoosiers in the celebration.
The event features live performances, activities, food, drinks, and more. Eight-year-old Lula Avery won the AES Indiana Coloring Contest, so she will help Santa “flip the switch” to light the monument.
Even if you cannot attend Friday, you and your family will still be able to meet Santa, thanks to the SPARK Holidays on the Circle, which will run Saturday and Sunday evenings through December 22nd.
If you plan to attend, you will access the Circle from East and West Market, or Washington and Meridian. Hoosiers with disabilities can get to an ADA-accessible viewing area from West Market and Illinois.
And, if you will be driving downtown Friday night, you will want to know that all four spokes of Monument Circle, Meridian between Ohio and Washington, and Market between Pennsylvania and Illinois will be totally closed. Part of Meridian between Georgia and Washington will also be closed.
Volunteers with IBEW Local 481 hung the festive lights and garland on the Monument on Saturday, November 16th. One volunteer said decorating with his family signifies the start of their holiday season.
The lights will be on display until January 10th, 2025. Learn more about the Circle of Lights event here.
