With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, many couples are preparing to make their love official with a heartfelt proposal. When it comes to planning a memorable moment, the setting is everything. In 2025, couples are looking for cities that combine romance, charm, and picture-worthy backdrops. A recent study by Cloudwares ranked the 100 largest U.S. cities based on factors like romantic dining, scenic parks, flower and jewelry shops, and social media appeal.

Unfortunately, Indiana didn’t rank high on the list. Indianapolis, the state’s highest-ranking city, landed at 80th overall. Fort Wayne followed far behind at 99th. The Hoosier State didn’t make a splash among the top proposal-friendly destinations like New York or Los Angeles.

Here are the most popular proposal locations around Indianapolis to pop the question: Monument Circle, White River State Park, and the Indianapolis Canal Walk. These spots provide beautiful settings for couples to create lasting memories, even if the city isn’t a national standout for romance.

Fort Wayne’s quiet parks and local venues can add a touch of simplicity for those who value an intimate atmosphere. While it may not boast the glamor of bigger cities, it offers a cozy, down-to-earth vibe perfect for personal celebrations. However, the study revealed that Fort Wayne lacked photogenic opportunities as well as shopping amenities and romantic experiences.

Indiana’s low ranking on the list highlights its quieter, more understated approach to romance. It may not have the bustling charm of New York or California, but for couples who prefer heartfelt, meaningful moments over flashy trends, the Hoosier State holds its own special kind of magic. Sometimes, love shines brightest in the simplest places.
