What To Expect With The Latest Property Tax Bill Reform
Are Hoosiers finally getting relief from our property taxes?
Gov. Mike Braun announced Wednesday afternoon that with Amendment 36 to Senate Bill 1, state leaders have agreed on a plan to bring property tax relief to Hoosiers.
Rob Kendall, from Kendall & Casey, met with the governor one-on-one to discuss his concerns on settling with the changes made to the original bill. The new deal expands the tax credit to 10% from 7.5% of the owner’s bill and eliminates the business personal property tax exemption.
Kendall told Hammer & Nigel that the bottom line for Hoosiers is that “you’ll see a max credit of $300, a lot of people will see less than that.” He notes that seniors will get an additional $150 credit.
The bill has not been signed by Gov. Braun at the time of this article (April, 9th, 2025.) If you would like to voice your concerns or encourage the governor to veto the bill you can email him at governormikebraun@gov.in.gov.
