Most Americans Panic at 38% Phone Battery
Here are the ABC’s of phones…Always be charging! You know the feeling—glancing at your phone and noticing the battery is almost gone. A new survey reveals just how early that worry sets in. The answer? When the charge hits 38%.

The survey asked 2,000 Americans when they start feeling anxious about their phone battery. While the average person gets nervous at 38%, some are more relaxed. About 34% don’t worry until it drops under 20%. Even more surprisingly, 13% wait until it’s under 10%.
On the other hand, 24% start looking for a charger before their battery even hits 50%.
Age also plays a role in phone battery life stress. Gen Z worries the earliest—at 44%. Millennials follow at 43%, while Gen X holds off until 38%. Baby Boomers are the most chill, only getting concerned when theirs fall to 34%.
When it comes to tracking battery life, 61% of people prefer seeing the exact percentage, while 39% are okay with just the icon.
