Haliburton’s Heroics Power Pacers Over Milwaukee to Clinch Series
INDIANAPOLIS–The Indiana Pacers overcame a 20-point deficit to beat the Milwaukee Bucks and win this best-of-seven first round NBA playoff series 119-118 in overtime. The Pacers won the series 4-1.
The Bucks led 118-111 with 40 seconds left in overtime, but then Indiana’s Andrew Nembhard hit a three to cut it to 118-114. After the Pacers got a steal, Pacer guard Tyrese Haliburton scored a layup and converted a three-point play to cut the deficit down to 1.
Milwaukee turned it over again. Haliburton made the driving layup to win the game. That’s all after Haliburton drove down the lane and got a dunk to tie the game at 103 and send it to overtime. Haliburton finished with 26 points, 9 assists, and five steals.
The Bucks were led by Gary Trent Jr.’s 33 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 30 points, 20 rebounds, and 13 assists in the defeat for Milwaukee. The Bucks led 33-13 in the second quarter before the Pacers made their run. Indiana led by as many as 5. The game had 10 ties and 13 lead changes.
All five starters for the Pacers finished with double figure scoring. Aaron Nesmith had a double double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Indiana now moves on to face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
