NWS: Severe Weather Possibilities for Indiana
STATEWIDE–The severe weather threat is still there for portions of Indiana, especially in the southern half of central Indiana.
“We’ve got a couple of active days for both today and tomorrow. We’ll have some storms start to arrive from 5 pm onwards. There could be brief heavy wind gusts,” said Aaron Updike, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.
He says the tornado risk is low, but there could be a damaging wind and isolated hail risk with that. Updike says places like Vincennes, Seymour, and Bloomington need to be on the lookout for the isolated tornado possibilities.
Updike says you can also expect temperatures to warm up.
“As we get into tomorrow, we’ll have upper 70s with some more cloud cover. Then we could have temperatures get into the 80 degree mark next week,” said Updike.
If you think it’s been raining more than usual for this time of year, Updike says you would be correct.
“We are on the upper end of rainfall for April. We’re in the top 10 for wettest Aprils and not far from the April record,” said Updike.
Periodic rainfall is expected throughout Indiana for the next few days.
