NWS: Rain and Low Winds in the Forecast

STATEWIDE — For the most part, especially though mid-week, rain is likely.
Earl Breon is a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, and he says the work week is not looking too severe. Rain is likely, but damage is not expected across the state.
“On Monday, there might be somewhere around a quarter of an inch total of rain,” Breon says.
Breon says significant amounts of rain are not expected, just steady rainfall through the week. He also says Tuesday is your best day to plan something during the week, as it will be wet throughout the rest.
“You might see more of sunny conditions on Tuesday, which might be the bright spot, but Wednesday is when you might see a return of precipitation,” Breon says. “As far as chances go, they’re pretty high through most of the week with 30%+.”
Breon says thunderstorms could pop up, but widespread damage will not. He urges you to be aware of lightning and thunder because it can be risky outdoors.
“If thunder roars, go indoors, especially with all of the activities going on in the area through the month of May,” Breon says.
Wind gusts are also pretty low.
“Over the next few days, like Monday, winds are expected to be in the five to ten mile-per-hour range,” Breon says. “If you are vendor setting up a booth, wind gusts might be a bit of a threat.”
Temperatures will be warmer than how they were on Sunday.
“Highs in the mid to upper 60’s are expected around Tuesday, as well as lows in the lower 50’s,” Breon says. “Temperatures may creep up into the 70’s as the work week continues, then lows are expected to be in the mid-50’s overnight.”
