Our Taxes Are Ridiculous. Republicans raising taxes on Hoosiers, that’s what they did. It wouldn’t be better with Democrats. Indiana GOP needs to be bold and just say “no”.

Tony Katz:

Our taxes are ridiculous. But that’s the Indiana Republican party. It’s not like it would be better with the Democratic Party in charge. I would argue the taxes based on their history, based on their conversations would be even higher. But we should have a far better tax situation in Indiana than we do, but do not have a bold Republican leadership that starts with “we don’t raise taxes.” Now I understand that there are Republicans who disagree… there are Republicans who have the audacity to say, “you don’t understand.” That’s always their argument. That’s not an argument. That is dismissive of millions of Hoosiers. Earlier we played some audio from Eric Holcomb, the former governor, who got an award. “Listen to others,” that was part of his advice. What listening did Eric Holcomb ever do? What listening did he do? There comes a moment where this as a starter does us no good. This is a recording. I know it doesn’t do it doesn’t do us any good. We’re not winning anything. Again, I’ll state this, there was this IBJ piece from Danny Lopez. I like Danny Lopez a lot. Danny Lopez is a smart guy and his point of his piece the state Rep is that we need to be open for business and we need to keep being open for business. Wholeheartedly agree. Not an argument. But when the Republican Party targets the cigar industry for tax increases because of a shortfall they created on paper, that’s not being open for business. It’s not. Saying we’re open for business the way. “Ohh, by the way, we can’t actually lower your property taxes.” Sorry that those two things don’t jive. It’s an improper argument being made that I would argue that is not taking into account where Hoosiers are every day. It’s valuable. We should be a state that’s open and well, things, all these things, but it’s attitude. With the backdrop of what happened then next season, this this session with taxes. It’s a platitude from Governor Braun and Micah Beckwith who the Lieutenant Governor thou doth protest too much. The Lieutenant governor decided governing is not Governing is nice, but being a content creator is even better. Because that’s what he is. That’s what he is. He’s a content creator, so said so I don’t have to choose between being a politician and being a pundit. Every second there’s another video from the guy… content creator. Not great. The Republican Party needs to be bolder. Just does. Needs it. And I’m curious to see who’s gonna bring it, ’cause right now, I don’t see it.
