STATEWIDE– An Indiana based company has issued a recall of “Vine Ripe” tomatoes sold in four-count clamshell packages. The FDA announced the action Saturday due to a potential risk of salmonella contamination.

The recalled tomatoes were sold at Gordon Food Service locations across eleven states, including in Indiana. Health leaders are urging anyone who purchased these tomatoes to discard them immediately as salmonella can cause serious illness.

Salmonella infection can include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, typically developing anywhere from six hours to six days after consuming contaminated food.

Young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to these infections.

If you’ve recently purchased vine-ripe tomatoes from Gordon Food Service and experience these symptoms, it’s crucial to contact your healthcare provider. Lot numbers are RM250424 15250B or Lot RM250427 15250B. Customers who have questions or want to report an illness should reach out to Ray & Mascari Inc. at 1-317-637-0234.
