It has been Kendall and Casey’s mission to stop corrupt politicians from screwing over the populous. It has been a tough battle, especially since Indiana lawmakers betrayed Hoosiers by passing a faulty property tax relief bill that would allow local governments to take more taxpayer money through income tax to make up for lack of funds from property taxes.

WIBC News Anchor and host of the Supporting Sobriety Podcast, Ryan Hedrick, came up with a twelve-step program for politicians to follow so they can improve their quality of leadership and leave their dishonest behavior behind:

1. Admit the disconnect.
We admitted we were powerless over our addiction, that our lives had become unmanageable.
People: Stop cheering for soundbites. Demand substance.

2. Believe leadership is more than likes.
Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity
People: Support integrity over image.

3. Choose to lead with integrity.
Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
People: Back bold leadership.

4. Take inventory.
Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
Dig into their record, don’t just read the headlines.

5. Own the mess.

Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

People: Hold them to honesty, not just image repair.

6. Check your ego.
Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
People: Stop treating elected officials like celebrities.

7. Ask for help.
Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
People: Speak up, your voice matters.

8. Know who you’ve hurt.
Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
People: Share your story. Be heard.

9. Make it right.

Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
People: Demand follow-through, not just a press release.

10. Stay honest.
Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
People: Keep the pressure on, even after the headlines fade.

11. Stay connected.
Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
People: Engage between elections. Show up, speak out.

12. Pay it forward.
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
People: Support better candidates, and maybe become one.
