KOKOMO, Ind. — A Kokomo man has been acquitted of the murder of 18-year-old Karena McClerkin in 2016.

Flint Vincent Farmer was found not guilty Thursday. Jury deliberation lasted for seven hours over two days.

Farmer is still facing a legal battle. Soon after the verdict was read, the Howard County Prosecutor’s Office filed seven felony obstruction of justice charges against Farmer. The charges say he gave false and misleading statements to investigators and instructed witnesses not to cooperate.

According to court records, a warrant has been issued for Farmer’s arrest. He could face prison time if convicted of the new obstruction charges.

Witnesses testified that they helped Farmer bury McClerkin’s body, contradicting previous statements made, and that Farmer allegedly told them to lie about their involvement.

A date has not yet been set on an initial hearing date for Farmer’s new charges.
