Concord, NH — Former Supreme Court Justice David Souter has died at the age of 85. He passed away Thursday at his home in Concord, New Hampshire.

Souter was appointed by President George H.W. Bush in 1990. The Republican justice aligned with the high court’s liberal wing, leaving conservatives disappointed. He retired in 2009 at the age of 69.
