INDIANAPOLIS — The City of Indianapolis Office of Minority and Women Business Development hosted an event Friday, which is called ‘OMWBD Day at IMS’ at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

More than 200 business owners, promoters, and residents attended the event.

“Today is about putting small businesses in the driver’s seat, giving them the access, and connections to accelerate their growth in today’s competitive market,” said David Fredricks, Director of the Office of Minority and Women Business Development. “Hosting ‘OMWBD Day’ at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was the perfect backdrop to remind us that with the right support, every business has the potential to take the lead.”

The increasing market demands that small businesses grow rapidly to stay competitive.

OMWBD’s certification program helps these businesses stand out in this fast-changing environment, ensuring they can thrive long-term.

“We’ve seen firsthand how certifications can open doors to transformative business opportunities,” said LaMar Holliday, Chief Executive Officer of the Holliday Collaborative Agency. “We’re proud to share our insights and guide other diverse businesses on how to leverage these certifications to grow, scale, and serve their communities through meaningful public and private sector partnerships.”

Grace Julian is the Communications Coordinator for the Office of Minority and Women Business Development in Indianapolis. She says the event was about bringing together small business owners from the Indianapolis community to network.

“The slogan we went with is about learning how to rev up the engines of a business in today’s competitive and growing market in our state’s capital,” Julian says.

Julian says the OMWBD chose the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the venue because it is a very exciting place for people to gather during all of these racing events.
