INDIANAPOLIS–Two men were shot on the northwest side of Indianapolis Sunday evening.

IMPD says it happened just after 6 pm on East Riverside Drive, near Burdsal Parkway. They found two men with gunshot wounds and rushed them to hospitals where they are recovering.

IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson said they are searching for a red SUV that may have been in the area when shots were fired. They’re trying to find the person or persons who fired the shots.

“This is Mother’s Day weekend. This is when they’re here to enjoy family time. And something like this, having a firearm brought into a situation with hundreds of people and used recklessly is not excusable. That action has to stop. That is not how we’re going to do this in this city this summer. This summer, we’re not doing that. We’re going to continue to work diligently with our community members to bring justice to these individuals,” IMPD Public Information Officer Tommy Thompson said during a media briefing.

IMPD is encouraging those with information on Sunday’s shooting at Riverside Park to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana by calling (317) 262-8477.
