BOONE COUNTY, Ind.– Over 3,000 Boone County residents woke up to no power Monday morning which caused a two hour delay for Zionsville Community Schools. The reason? A raccoon.

Boone REMC started receiving calls of outage around 5am this morning and then dispatch a team to a substation where they notice significant damage done by a raccoon, says Communications Director Mandy Saucerman of Boone REMC.

Unfortunately this does happen once in awhile. Animals find there way into crevices and once that happens, REMC receives alerts of the power outages and then uses their technology to troubleshoot their specific areas and substations.

Thankfully power was fully restored not too long after the issue was reported.
